Jewelry Displays-from plain to shabby chic

Last summer, one of the local unfinished furniture stores was going out of business.  I decided to drop in to see what I could find.

I wandered around for about 10 minutes and saw nothing that I "just had to have".  I was about to leave when I walked into the little area that had all of the cabinet-making wood trims for kitchen cabinets, entertainment centers, shelves, etc.  I didn't need any big items for my house, but the displays kind of intrigued me.  I immediately thought of jewelry displays for my jewelry.   I asked the owner if he was selling those, too.  He said, "sure".  So, I asked him how much.  He said, "$10", and I said, "APIECE?!!".  He then said, "no, all of them."  Needless to say, I was kind of dumbstruck, (but just for a second), so, I said, "SOLD!"

So, we  unhooked them from the wall, and stacked them on the floor - all 30 of them!!!.  All kinds of things were going through my mind - Are they going to fit in the back of the Trailblazer?  What will my husband say when he sees this stack of unfinished wood things in the garage?  How exactly will I make these jewelry displays?

Well, they fit in the Trailblazer.  Hubby just kind of looked at me with that, "whatever, you're crazy" kind of look.  And after a year, I finally started making the jewelry displays.  I have finished 10 of them and they  turned out really cool - kind of antiquey-shabby chic!  (is that the same thing?)

I must admit, I was inspired by some really talented bloggers who repurpose, refinish and bring to life discards, trash or just plain old and tired furniture and things. Check out my "People I Like" on the right sidebar.

So here's a sample of the finished product:  all available in my etsy shop
I would love to hear what you think?
